Holidays 2021

Holidays are a WRAP!

The holidays were brighter for Enable Madison County clients thanks to the support of our community. Thanks to our generous donors and volunteers, we were able to provide 150 clients with Thanksgiving meals and 110 meals during Christmas. We are excited to report that we had a record number of Thanksgiving meals this year!

More than 450 Enable Madison County Clients received Christmas gifts thanks to numerous donors and volunteers. Volunteers spent close to 300 hours delivering gifts before Christmas Day. A special thank you to Mr. Wisda, owner of our 2021 North Pole location, and Eric St. John, former Enable Madison County Board Member and Vice President of Crunkleton Commercial Real Estate, for helping us secure this location for our Christmas operations. The clients were so thankful to be remembered during this time of year.

In addition to gifts and meals, we also delivered personal hygiene items and paper products to hundreds of clients in November and December. Our clients have been so thankful for the support of Enable Madison County’s volunteers and donors. It helps them feel special and lifts their spirits amidst their daily struggles to remain in their homes.

On behalf of the Madison County Commission, Enable Madison County received a $20,000 Community Development Block Grant Coronavirus (CDBG-CV) grant to prevent, prepare for, and respond to coronavirus through Enable Madison County’s nutrition support services for qualified elderly, low income, homebound individuals in Madison County. Part of these funds will help provide supplies for our Cold, Flu, and COVID bags delivered in the coming months.

Enable Madison County also received a City of Huntsville Community Development CBDG-CV Cares grant for $10,000 to provide nutrition for qualifying low-to-moderate-income City of Huntsville clients impacted by COVID-19. The Enable Madison County client food pantry provides healthy, non-perishable food items that are low sodium, low sugar, and no sugar added. Also nutritional replacement meals such as Ensure or Glucerna (for diabetics). Our aging and home bound neighbors are more vulnerable due to health issues, lack of medical care, and face barriers to accessing necessary services.
