YOU CAN HELP

Enable Madison County has volunteer projects that cover a wide range of interests from gardening to building to one-on-one companionship. The time commitment for each project varies, but most of our projects can be completed in an afternoon or morning. No advanced skills are required for the majority of our projects, and we have opportunities for individuals and groups. Training is provided for some services. We look forward to adding you to our team! 

Volunteering Opportunities

Enable Madison County has volunteer projects that everyone will enjoy. Our projects cover a wide range of interests from gardening, to building, or to one-on-one companionship. Volunteers donate their time and generally use their own tools when required. The time commitment for each project varies, but most of our projects can be completed in an afternoon or morning. No advanced skills are required for the majority of our projects, and we have opportunities for individuals and groups. Training is provided for the more skilled needs. Projects must be scheduled in advance. We look forward to working with you!

Provide Accessibility

Volunteers are needed to build, repair, and design wheelchair ramps for our aging and homebound neighbors. Click image for more information.

Transportation

Volunteers provide transportation to necessary medical appointments for our clients who are 60 years old and older and are able to get in and out of a vehicle with minimal assistance. Click image for more information.

Prevention of Falls

Volunteers install safety features of grab bars and handrails to aid in the prevention of dangerous falls. Click image for more information.

Delivery Volunteers

Volunteers are needed to deliver needed items such as food bags, protective undergarments, and special items during the holidays. Click image for more information.

Delivering Nutrition

Volunteers, groups, and individuals, work in our Enable Madison County Vegetable Garden to grow fresh produce for our aging clients, 60 years old and older. Volunteers then deliver the harvest to our clients who have a need for access to fresh produce. Click image for more information.

Progressive Union Volunteers

Weatherization

Groups of volunteers work together on the first Saturday in November to prepare homes of our neighbors who are 60 years old and older. Temporary and minor fixes are done to the homes in an effort to keep the homes warm during the colder months and potentially lower utility costs.

Friendly Visiting/Telephone Reassurance

Many of our clients do not have family or friends living nearby and could use a friendly visit or just a phone call to see how they are doing. Volunteers can connect with clients in need of a visit or just someone to talk to. Click image for more information.
